Great lift, before aromas of warmed spice, herb, purple flowers and a flash of French oak. The palate is youthful but shows lovely fruit ripeness interwoven with tingling tannins. Bright red fruit of creamed raspberry, blackberry and plum show through the finish before a tight acid line and warming finish.
Alcohol: 14.5% vol.
Best Drinking: Drinking well now, but has much to give over the next 4 years
Shiraz fruit sourced from the single Darwin Vineyard in the cool climate region of Adelaide Hills. Fermentation took place on skins in 2 tonne fermenters with two pump-overs daily until dry. The wine was then transferred to a mix of French and American oak hogsheads, of which 20% was new, adding texture and complexity to the wine.
